What Is a Vadzo Monochrome MIPI Camera?
A Vadzo monochrome MIPI camera is a compact embedded module that streams image data directly to a processor over a MIPI CSI-2 interface. Without a Bayer filter, every pixel captures more light, delivering higher sensitivity, sharper detail, and stronger NIR performance at 850nm and 940nm.
Bolt series camera products use a two-board design. camera + adapter, with no USB bridge, enabling lower latency, reduced power consumption and a simpler BOM. All models are RoHS3 and REACH compliant.
On-Board ISP
Built-in image signal processing handles tone mapping, noise reduction, dewarping, and dual-endpoint streaming without offloading to the host processor.
VISPA ARC SDK
APIs in C, C++, C#, and Python for Windows, Linux, and Android. Integrates with GStreamer, OpenCV, ROS/ROS2, DirectShow, and V4L2.
CE / FCC / RoHS 3 Compliance
Portfolio-wide CE, FCC, RoHS 3, and REACH certifications. NDAA compliance available on select Falcon and Merlin models.
UVC Plug-and-Play
Recognised instantly on Windows, Linux, and Android with no driver installation. Eliminates custom driver development and accelerates the path from prototype to production.
2MP to 20MP Resolution Range
Sensors from Sony, Onsemi, and OmniVision cover every resolution requirement from compact embedded systems to high-resolution 4K industrial inspection.
Global Shutter & HDR Options
Dedicated global shutter models eliminate motion artefacts in high-speed applications. HDR models deliver up to 140dB dynamic range for scenes with extreme contrast.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I buy a monochrome MIPI camera online?
All six Bolt series monochrome camera products are available for direct online purchase at vadzoimaging.com with no minimum order quantity. Orders ship worldwide to the US, Canada, UK, Europe, South Korea, Japan and beyond.
What is the difference between AR0521 and AR0522 MIPI camera products?
Both the Bolt-521MRS and Bolt-522MRS use 5MP 1/2.5-inch sensors from Onsemi with 2.2-micron BSI 2 pixels and identical mechanical form factors. The AR0522 sensor has a higher-performance ISP and is rated for better low-light sensitivity, making it the stronger pick where both dim ambient light and NIR imaging need to work reliably together. The AR0521 is the practical choice for NIR-only or standard machine vision deployments at a slightly lower cost point.
Which Bolt camera should I choose for digital pathology?
The Bolt-2020MRS is the right camera for digital pathology and whole slide imaging applications because the 20MP AR2020 sensor provides the spatial resolution needed to resolve fine tissue detail. For lower-cost pathology setups where 13MP is sufficient, the Bolt-1335MRS is a practical alternative.
What makes the IMX900 stand out from the other monochrome MIPI camera products?
The Bolt-900MGS IMX900 is the only global shutter camera in the lineup that adds Quad HDR up to 120dB and Quad Shutter Control on top of its global shutter architecture. This makes it uniquely suited for precision inspection and metrology tasks where the scene has both very bright and very dark regions, and motion in the scene must not produce any geometric distortion. The AR0234 Mono is a global shutter camera too but at 2MP and without the IMX900's extended dynamic range capability.
Do Vadzo MIPI camera products work with Raspberry Pi?
Yes. All Bolt series camera products are validated on Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5. The Bolt-900MGS IMX900 camera has been specifically confirmed on Raspberry Pi 5 using native V4L2 and the Linux media controller framework without any proprietary middleware.
What is the difference between a rolling shutter and a global shutter MIPI camera?
A global shutter camera reads every pixel in the array at the same moment, so fast-moving objects appear geometrically accurate with no skew or wobble. A rolling shutter camera reads rows sequentially, which can introduce distortion when the subject or camera is moving quickly. Of the six Bolt monochrome camera products, the Bolt-234MGS and Bolt-900MGS use global shutter sensors. The Bolt-2020MRS, Bolt-1335MRS, Bolt-521MRS and Bolt-522MRS use rolling shutter sensors. For applications where the subject is stationary or slow-moving rolling shutter, camera products deliver excellent image quality at a lower cost. For high-speed industrial inspection, robotics, and AGV navigation, global shutter is usually the right choice.
Is there a minimum order quantity for Vadzo MIPI camera products?
No. There is no minimum order quantity for any Bolt series camera. A single evaluation unit can be purchased directly from the online store. Volume pricing tiers are available for production orders.
Can Vadzo MIPI camera products be customized for OEM integration?
Yes. Vadzo supports full OEM customization including board redesigns, firmware modifications, NIR and LED array integration, lens holder changes, connector repositioning, advanced sensor integration for ToF and mmWave radar and IMU and enclosure design with IP-rated options. Contact support@vadzoimaging.com for customization details and volume quotations.
Which Bolt camera is best for NIR surveillance in dark environments?
For NIR surveillance at 850nm or 940nm, the Bolt-522MRS (AR0522) offers excellent low-light sensitivity combined with good NIR response in a 5MP module. For applications that also need high spatial resolution in NIR, the Bolt-2020MRS (AR2020) at 20MP delivers the same NIR sensitivity at 850nm and 900nm with far more detail.
Does Vadzo offer the same sensors in USB or GigE camera products?
Yes. Every sensor in the Bolt monochrome MIPI series is also available in USB form via Vadzo's Falcon USB 3.0 series or Vajra USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 series. The IMX900 is additionally available as the Innova-900MGS GigE camera for machine vision systems using the GigE Vision protocol.
